2MNO began broadcasting in 1996, born from the vision of local residents who wanted something different from the mainstream radio already available across the region.
Initially focused on country and easy-listening music, the station grew alongside its community. As new presenters brought their own interests, personalities and musical passions to the microphone, 2MNO’s programming expanded to embrace a much broader range of sounds and stories.
With a history of broadcasting from studios in Cooma and Nimmitabel, 2MNO has long been part of the region’s community life, connecting listeners through music, local current affairs and information that matters to the Monaro.
Three decades later, that original community spirit remains at the heart of everything we do.
